OFFICIAL GRID: Who starts where in Shanghai for the Chinese Grand Prix as Logan Sargeant starts from pit lane

For the second race in succession we have an all-Red Bull front row in China, and this time it’s Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso and McLaren’s Lando Norris who are best placed to challenge Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez through Shanghai’s tricky opening turns.

Don’t discount the second McLaren of Oscar Piastri and the Ferrari of Charles Leclerc, who form row three of the grid, nor the sister scarlet car of Carlos Sainz – who survived a crash in qualifying – or Mercedes’ George Russell, who comprise row four.

A little further back, look out for P10 starter Valtteri Bottas, as he seeks Kick Sauber’s first points of 2024, and team mate Zhou Guanyu – P16 – who makes history by becoming the first Chinese driver to start his home Grand Prix.

Meanwhile Williams’ Logan Sargeant, who had qualified 20th for the race, will start from the pit lane with the team indicating that, with another Sprint event coming up in Miami, it allows them to “experiment with the setup and learn more about the car.”

The 2024 Chinese Grand Prix starts at 1500 local time. Be sure to join our live coverage from 1400 here.
