The man from Preston landed $2.4 million on the TattsLotto.
He will also spend the money on renovating his house, and on a holiday, he told lottery bosses.
When he was called with the news at work he said it was “unbelievable.”
”I don’t know how to feel,” he said.
“I decided to check it at 8am this morning while I was on my way to work – but I’ll be taking the week off now.
These were Australia’s lottery winning hotspots for 2023
“I’ve played TattsLotto since, maybe since I was 18 years old and I’m now in my 50s.
“I never ever thought that I would come close to winning division one. It’s so surreal.”
The Melburnian held one of the two division one winning entries nationally in TattsLotto draw 4457, drawn Saturday 6 April 2024 and looks forward to a total prize of $2,461,098.31.
His winning entry was bought at Plenty Luck News & Lotto on Plenty Rd, Preston.
Owner Amol Kapoor said it was the second division one winning entry the shop had sold in less than two months.
“Our customers were telling us that good things come in threes, and we were due for another division one winning entry. I never thought it would happen so soon,” he said.
The past six Oz Lotto draws saw no division-one winners emerge, pushing the jackpot to the third-largest total of any lottery in 2024.
