Sonic Drive-In has launched a Blackout Slush Float, available through May 5, featuring cotton candy and dragon fruit flavors topped with white soft serve and blue and purple sprinkles. In a statement, Mackenzie Gibson, VP of culinary and menu innovation, said there are over 400 Sonic locations in areas where the total solar eclipse will be visible.
Pizza Hut will offer what it’s calling a “Total Eclipse of the Hut” deal April 8, aiming to feed hungry eclipse viewers by offering a large pizza for $12. The promotion applies to create-your-own, Think ‘N Crispy, Hand Tossed, and Original Pan pizzas.
Marco’s Pizza is also providing an eclipse-themed discount, with 50% off all menu-priced pizzas ordered online or through the app from April 8-14 using the promotional code, ECLIPSE.
Burger King is providing an exclusive buy-one-get-one Whopper promotion for its Royal Perks members who text ECLIPSE to 251251 anytime on April 8. The offer is redeemable during or after the eclipse via the app or BK.com.
Raising Cane’s is providing guests within the “Path of Toast-tality” free Texas toast with every combo purchase on April 8. Those who can’t it on that day can enter online April 8 for a chance to win free Cane’s for 20 years.
Krispy Kreme is marking the eclipse with a “Total Solar Eclipse Doughnut,” a glazed doughnut dipped in black chocolate icing, topped with silver sprinkles, and piped with buttercream made with Oreo pieces. There is also a whole Oreo cookie in the center of the doughnut. It will be available through April 8. Notably, the brand offered its Original Glazed doughnut with chocolate gaze for the first time ever to mark the last solar eclipse in 2017.
Insomnia Cookies is bringing back its Moon Cookie Cakes in time for the eclipse, available through April 8. The crescent-shaped cake is made with two classic cookie flavors and serves up to eight. On April 8, the company is treating customers to one free classic cookie with a $5 purchase in-store or online.
Dunkin’ customers can celebrate the eclipse with a $3 medium cold brew offer, available on the app.
Chuy’s is featuring a new eclipse-themed margarita and will feature the new margarita and $5 Chips ‘N Dips for its Tex-Mex Totality party through April 8.
Biggby Coffee has introduced two new beverages to mark the rare celestial occasion. The Eclipse Biggby Blast Energy Drink combines sparkling water, the chain’s custom plant-based Zip!, dragon fruit and blue raspberry flavors, and Sour. The Solar Flare Crème Freeze includes mango and strawberry flavors.
O’Charley’s is hosting a “Solar-bration” April 8 with a curbside offer of $5 Famous Chicken Tenders, fries and a Coke for carryout, and $5 MargO’ritas for dine-in guests.
Cracker Barrel will give away a free side of pancakes April 8 with the purchase of any entrée, including kids’ meals, when customers mention “Eclipse Pancakes.” The brand’s retail stores will be selling eclipse glasses.
From April 8 through April 14, Wendy’s is celebrating the eclipse by offering customers a free small Frosty with a digital order purchase. The chain is also waiving its delivery fee on April 8. And, through April 10, Wendy’s is offering $1 Dave’s Single or $2 Dave’s Double through the app, and a free Dave’s Single via Uber Eats with a minimum $15 purchase.
Meanwhile, Punch Bowl Social in Cleveland is hosting a solar eclipse party from 3-4:30 p.m. The party includes games, food and drink availability and tickets are $10.
Chili’s is giving away a free appetizer on April 7 and April 8 for guests who purchase an adult entrée. The offer is redeemable by using the code “APPCLIPSE” when ordering to-go or in-store.
Independents and emerging brands are also jumping in on the action and, in fact, Crystal Smith, owner of Billy Gene’s Restaurant in Kerrville, Texas, told CBS News that she has doubled most of her food orders in preparation for the eclipse and expects to go through all of it. Kerrville will have one of the longest views of the event and Billy Gene’s has received reservations from as far away as Germany.
Over a dozen Fish City Grill and Half Shells locations in Texas are offering a special deal on the Gold margarita April 8, as well as a classic shrimp boil. The margarita will be available for $6 versus the regular $9, while all other cocktails will be $2 off.
Southfork Ranch in Parker, Texas, is hosting an “Eclipse & Sip” event April 8 from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Guests will be provided with chairs and eclipse glasses and can order from a selection of $20 boxed lunches created for the occasion. A full bar will also be available throughout the day, including the $12 specialty drinks Solar Smash, Black Moon, and Ring of Fire.
All Birdcall locations in Texas have added a Totality Shake to the menu and will giveaway solar eclipse glasses with every purchase. The shake includes a vanilla base with black tahini and Oreo crumbles, and is topped with whipped cream, Oreo crumbles, and an Oreo garnish for $5.95. The locations will also host viewing parties in their parking lots beginning around 1:40 p.m.
In addition to providing a discussion presented by Dr. Kyle Kremer, a NASA Einstein Fellow at Caltech, the Worthington Renaissance Fort Worth Hotel is also offering a curated eclipse-themed menu, including a Savor the Cosmic Cocktail. The event is April 7 from 5-7 p.m.
Finally, Cameron Mitchell Restaurants will serve an Eclipse Gimlet cocktail at several of its Columbus, Ohio, locations, April 8. The cocktail includes Hendrick’s Gin, simple syrup, lime juice and cucumber wheels.
