Bagged ice from Taycheedah gas station recalled for possible E. coli

The bacteria can cause diarrhea and vomiting, but as of May 1, no illnesses were reported.

TAYCHEEDAH — Check your ice: Fond du Lac County Health Department has issued a recall.

The department warned on Facebook May 1 that 20-pound bagged ice bought before April 19 from the Citgo Ledgeview Express, N7593 Taycheedah Way, could be contaminated with E. coli. The 10-pound bags are not part of the recall.

The Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade and Consumer Protection’s Bureau of Meat and Poultry Businesses conducted a routine sampling and detected coliform and E. coli on the station’s ice machine.

The bacteria can cause diarrhea and vomiting, but as of May 1, no illnesses were reported to the health department related to the recall.

The health department advises anyone who has consumed the ice should monitor themselves for signs or symptoms of a foodborne illness and contact their doctor. Anyone who has bought the recalled ice should discard it and not consume it.
