Edin Terzic hails underrated pit bull Julian Ryerson
Edin Terzic was full of praise of Julian Ryerson ahead of Borussia Dortmund’s UEFA Champions League semifinal against Paris Saint-Germain.
When he made the switch to Borussia Dortmund from Union Berlin in January 2023, many expected Julian Ryerson to play a back-up role in the team. But the Norwegian international slotted into the starting XI seamlessly and has been a regular starter ever since.
Capable of playing at both right-back and left-back, Ryerson’s committed performances and defensive contributions have made him a real fan-favourite at Borussia Dortmund. And Edin Terzic lauded the 26 year old during his press conference on Tuesday.
“A big compliment to Norway. I’ve worked with four Norwegians in my career so far, all of them have been outstanding,” Terzic said, adding, “Julian [Ryerson] is a little underrated. But we are very happy to have him on our team. He works hard for the team and does his job really well. Every team needs a player like him. He’s like a pit bull on the pitch.”
Julian Ryerson made his 50th appearance for Borussia Dortmund during Saturday’s Bundesliga clash against RB Leipzig. In addition to his excellent defensive resolve, the full-back has also scored a number of important goals for the Black and Yellows this season, including against Bayern Munich and Bayer Leverkusen.
Ryerson’s performances have also caught the eye of other clubs, and Aston Villa and Brighton & Hove Albion have both been linked with his signature in recent weeks. But Borussia Dortmund will look to ensure that he stays at the club for a long time.
