Utah Lacrosse Earns Spot In 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championships Against Duke
SALT LAKE CITY – The University of Utah Lacrosse team punched its ticket to the 2024 NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Championships today, earning its second berth into the tournament after winning its second-straight ASUN Championship. Utah will take on the No. 2-seed Duke Blue Devils in Durham, N.C., in the first round on Saturday, May 11 at 12:30 p.m. MT on ESPNU.
Utah defeated the Jacksonville Dolphins today in the ASUN Championship game, 16-13, securing its spot in the NCAA Championships. Utah’s win today was its 12th of the season, tying the school record for victories in a season.
In just three seasons in the ASUN, Utah has won at least a share of three regular season titles and two tournament titles, going 22-1 in regular season ASUN games. Utah is also 46-8 all-time against current members of the league.
The Utes have had three straight seasons with 10+ wins with 34 of Utah’s 46 program wins coming in the last three seasons.
Through 16 games this season, Utah ranks in the top-10 in the NCAA in assists (8.88), caused turnovers (10.00) and points (24.19) per game, also ranking third in the nation in scoring margin (+4.94) and scoring offense (15.31).
On offense, the Utes have been led by ASUN Player of the Year Ryan Stines, who ranks ninth in the NCAA and first in the ASUN in goals per game (2.94), also sitting at No. 2 in the league in points per game (4.00).
On defense, Utah is the only team in the country with two players ranked in the top-12 in the nation in caused turnovers per game with Nikko DiPonio coming in at No. 8 (2.06) and Joey Boylston ranking No. 11 (1.88).
In goal, sophomore Colin Lenskold has been key for the Utes, only allowing 10.54 goals per game with a .537 save percentage which both rank in the top-25 nationally.
