DFW Airport increasing parking rates beginning May 1

DFW International Airport plans on upping its parking rates beginning May 1.

Rates will increase by $2 to $5 a day, including a $3 increase for drivers passing through the airport. The changes include terminal daily parking rates — previously $27, now $32; express covered rates previously $18, now $21; express uncovered rates previously $15, now $18; remote rates previously $12, now $14; valet rates previously $40, now $45; and rates for drivers passing through the airport are now $9, previously $6.

In an announcement published on the airport’s website, DFW said the changes are needed “to support ongoing infrastructure and service enhancements.”

The airport has since taken down the announcement, as it was published early, but was set to be online Thursday, DFW officials confirmed.

The world’s second-busiest airport has planned for over $500 million in roadway and parking upgrades over the next several years, including a project that will transition access to several terminals with right-hand exit bridges and the reconstruction of Terminal C’s garages and roadways. Any vehicle that enters the airport pays a fee, whether it’s locals picking up passengers, ride-share drivers or those who park there.

DFW Airport evaluates the market for parking to ensure parking products are “both competitive and support the airport’s non-aeronautical revenue.” Travelers can still take advantage of pre-booking DFW’s parking for cheaper rates.

Folks picking up loved ones will still have that $2 cost for picking up or dropping someone off for any vehicle on the airport’s property between 8 to 30 minutes.

Parking rates have increased twice in the past seven years. In 2019, the airport increased rates for “pass-through” drivers who drove through the airport to save time.

At Atlanta-Hartsfield Jackson International Airport, the leading busiest airport in the world based on passenger traffic, the hourly short-term parking is $36 a day after six hours, and $36 each additional day in the lots closest to each terminal entrance. In Atlanta’s covered deck recommended for overnight parking, it’s $19 a day.

Last month, DFW Airport reopened the Remote North parking lot, which closed during the COVID-19 pandemic.
