Vespa 140th of Piaggio scooter unveiled

-Celebrates 140th anniversary of Piaggio

-Based on the Vespa GTV

-Limited to 140 units worldwide

The Piaggio Group, the parent company of Vespa, celebrates its 140th anniversary this year and there couldn’t have been a better time to launch a celebratory edition scooter. Called the Vespa 140th of Piaggio, this scooter is based on the Vespa GTV and  it is limited to 140 units worldwide. While its availability is limited to a few international markets only, here’s what’s special about the scooter?

Well, the limited numbers aside, the Vespa 140th of Piaggio looks great in the predominantly white colour with streaks of light and dark blue on the front arpon and side panels. The wheels and the seat are also coloured deep blue and the contrasting light blue piping on the seat is a neat touch. The number ‘140’ pasted across the left side panel is tastefully executed as well. On the whole, the scooter looks rather special.

By being based on the Vespa GTV, it also maintains the classic Vespa look, replete with the front mudguard mounted headlight and the curved bodywork. The scooter is powered by a 278cc, single-cylinder engine that produces 24bhp and 27Nm. The engine is paired with a CVT transmission.

The scooter is decently equipped as well. It gets a digital display, keyless start, traction control, ABS and more.

Moving to the hardware it has a sheet steel body with welded reinforcements, suspended by a single-arm with coil spring and single shock absorber setup at the front and dual rear shock absorbers with 4-step preload adjustments. This Vespa rides on 12-inch wheels, while braking duties are taken care of by 220m hydraulic discs at both ends.

The Vespa 140th of Piaggio scooter can be purchased online during the ongoing Vespa World Days 2024 celebration that’s being held in Italy.
