Huntington Red Devils ready for bi-district
HUNTINGTON, Texas (KTRE) – Although the weather may not cooperate the next few days, the bi-district round of the playoffs is set to kick off. And in the Lufkin area, that includes the Huntington Red Devil baseball team.
“We’ve had a good couple of days of practice and hope to have another one here in just a few minutes and we’re confident and we’re excited to be in the playoffs and these guys worked hard to get us there,” said head coach Shawn Mixon.
“We feel pretty good we feel a lot like really confident this year,” said centerfielder Cooper Hutchison. “We have a lot more momentum coming into the games we’re playing. Our pitchers have been spotting up so I think we’re going to do pretty good.”
“We got got a pretty good chance with these teams were facing and I think the way our pitchers are pitching and where we’re hitting I think we’ll be alright,” said left fielder Carson Shives.
Coach Mixon went on to say, “this team has been a work in progress. We’ve made some strides and taken some steps back and then repeated the whole deal again, but we like where we’re at right now. We’re just excited to still be playing baseball.”
And if the weather will allow, the Huntington Red Devils will be playing tomorrow night in a best of three series with Kountze at 7pm.
